Christian Retreat Center - September 8, 2013
Our annual church-wide picnic
was held at Biggerstaff Christian Retreat during the afternoon of
Sunday, September 8, 2013. The highlight of the event was the
wonderful baptismal service in which two children and two adults were
baptized in Lake Keowee.

Special Patriotic Services were held
Sunday, June 30, 2013
On Sunday, June 30, we
began the July 4th week by celebrating our nation’s birthday with several very special worship
times. The first was at College Street during our morning
worship service. Our Adult Choir lead us in several
selections from a new patriotic musical entitled Indivisible,
along with some other very special selections and songs from our
orchestra. Then we celebrated as a community of believers at
Utica Baptist Church. Our Adult Choir joined in with Utica’s for two
presentations of the entire musical. Thanks to all who participated
in these wonderful patriotic and worshipful services!

Note from Ray...
WOW! What a GREAT
GOD! He gave us his perfect and one and only Son, JESUS, to save
us! I want to thank HIM, and all of you who had any part in Bow
the Knee. Your hard work, dedication, talents, personalities and
spirits all wrapped up in the four presentations was truly a
worship offering to HIM who loves us and gave HIMSELF for us!
May we continue to live out HIS resurrection every day of our
lives! And not only live it, but tell it in everything we do and
say! May our worship of HIM who gave us His all continue to help
us be changed daily into what HE wants us to become for HIM as
long as we have breath. And may the music ministry of College
Street continue to strive to be the best we can be only for HIS
Honor and Glory. I Love you! HALLELUJAH!

From Pastor Ken...
Bow the Knee….
There are moments in church life when things are good. Those moments
are usually characterized by a movement of God. That movement is
always preceded by sustained focus and prayer. And when this happens
God is always Glorified!
The past three Sundays
(and weeks) especially have been moments when God has been Glorified
by His people who call themselves College Street Baptist Church.
I bow my knee to the
King of Kings and Lord of Lords today. It’s not like I haven’t done
this before. But today seems so different. With churches around us
in deep turmoil, when nations rattle their sabers at us and accuse
our nation of being satanic and when our faith is being challenged
as “outdated” and “insensitive”, I still bow my knee to Jesus
Christ.
As Betsy and I worked
on our income taxes this week we also chose to clean out some old
files. We ran across two file folders with information we gathered
during the call process back in 2003. It was both exciting to see
what was being said about CSBC at that time, and is humbling. It
reminded us of how blessed we are to be here. Today I want to
reaffirm my love for you and my gratefulness to the Lord that He
allows me to be a small part of a great church family.
I’m just an ordinary
man that the Lord called to preach His Gospel. I’m far from perfect
and make many mistakes. When I do make mistakes I pray that you will
gently correct me and lovingly forgive me and passionately pray for
me. I commit myself to serve the Lord by fulfilling His calling on
my life. Thank you for allowing me to fulfill that calling at CSBC.
Together we will continue (through sustained focus and prayer) to do
it well. AND… “God will be Glorified”!
Thank you, Ray
Conway for the thousands of “focused and prayerful” hours of
preparation and leadership that brought praise and glory to our
Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The four presentations of this
year’s Passion have impacted so many that only eternity will tell us
the whole story.
To every singer,
every cast member and the entire crew (lighting, sets, sound,
ushers, parking, and security, child-care) praise the Lord for your
“sustained focus and prayer”. Although the presentations were each a
unique time of worship, I must agree when someone said “it was like
a time of revival”. Praise the Lord!
So? What do we do
now?.... Let’s not stand here looking back on what has happened
in the past, but know that this same Jesus is Coming Again! And
until He does let’s work to expand the Kingdom of God as if His
coming was today. Let’s continue to invite the lost to church. Let’s
continue to “pack the house” to the “Glory of God”. Let’s continue
to be what the Lord always intended for us to be. Let’s be that
“Light that shines in Darkness”, that “City that cannot be hidden”,
that example that others will know that Jesus died for their sins to
be forgiven and their
lives to be fulfilled. Thank the Lord! Thank you! See you in church!
